Oak Street Beach

If you love the city skyline and busy Chicago vibe but want a quieter, more relaxing getaway, Oak Street Beach is perfect for you! Oak Street Beach was created as a sand beach tourism spot in the 1890’s, after a large change from a cemetery and landfill to a 1212 acre park. Located near Streeterville, from North Lake Shore to Ohio Street, this popular summer hotspot truly does have a spectacular view of the city skyline, being right in the midst of the hustle and bustle. This is considered to be one of Chicago’s most popular and fashionable beaches, a place to see and be seen while also being a less crowded and spacious beach option. Here you will see a spacious boardwalk, volleyball courts, and plenty of room for football or frisbee!

Oak Street Beach provides several amenities for its guests, such as chair rentals, food and drink options, bike rentals, volleyball rentals, and restrooms. There is also a Chess Pavilion, 260 feet 2011 mural promoting clean beach habits, as well as a Lakefront trail popular for inline skating and cycling. There are concrete running paths called South and North ledge, and the locals and tourists alike love the volleyball courts, a number of ameture and professional tournaments happening here annually. You may picnic here on the beachline with the best view, or head over to Food + Drink to be in a scenic beachside restaurant with american grub and al fresco dining. Everybody in your group will absolutely love this tropical hub!
